Intersection Intervention / StreetFilms from the NYC Streets Renaissance: This StreetFilms program from the NYC Streets Renaissance explores making NYC a more livable and safer community. Through about a dozen video shorts StreetFilms will explore transportation issues focusing mainly on pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure improvements made in other cities as well as showing what is beginning to happen here in New York. Items will include Portland, Oregon's "Intersection Repair" where residents reclaim their streets by painting murals on the asphalt to slow down cars and create a community commons. In a pair of shorts, StreetFilms will take a look at the San Francisco Bay Area and the issue of bike parking possibilities that could be implemented here at major transit hubs. And finally, "Physically Separated Bike Lanes" will propose experimenting with some bike lanes and making them physically separated from traffic which has been done successfully all over the world. |
